Carved Wooden Shrine Object from North Ika

A photograph depicting a multi-tiered carved wooden shrine object from Asaba village in North Ika. The sculpture consists of a circular base supported by two crouched anthropomorphic figures, with a larger upper platform containing multiple figures. A central large-scale figure dominates the upper tier, wearing a tall structured headpiece and exhibiting dark linear scarification patterns on the face. This figure holds a long vertical staff in the left hand and a large curved blade in the right hand. All figures across both tiers are adorned with extensive surface ornamentation, including linear incisions, circular dots, and geometric motifs. The object was documented in 1880 and is part of the Pitt Rivers Museum collection.
