World Sight Day: The Importance of Early Detection and Treatment of Eye Problems

Nigerians are urged to prioritize eye health as World Sight Day is observed today. Ophthalmologists have highlighted the importance of early detection and treatment of eye issues to prevent vision loss or blindness. Parents are encouraged to take their children for early eye examinations if they notice any vision problems. This call to action comes during a celebration held at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, themed “Love Your Eyes, Children.” Leading the charge is Professor Ifeoma Ezegwui, who emphasizes that awareness about preventable eye diseases and the need for early intervention is crucial in preserving vision. Let’s all show support for World Sight Day by advocating for regular eye checkups and supporting those in need of eye care services.
