NPFL: Davidson delighted to make debut for Akwa United
Akwa United midfielder, Kemfon Davidson says making his debut in the Nigeria Premier Football League was a dream come true.
Davidson promised to make a positive contribution to the club’s quest for laurels in the 2024-25 campaign.
The youngster came in in the second half of the Promise Keepers matchday two clash with Abia Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday.
Davidson joined Akwa United from Nationwide League One side, Palm Syrup during the 2023-24 mid-season transfer window.
He however failed to make an appearance for the club last season.
“I was happy when the coach selected me among the players that will play on Sunday and it was a dream come true for me because it was the first time I was named in a matchday squad,” he told Akwa United media.
“The moment I will never forget was when the coach said to me, Kemfon, I know you can make a difference in this match, go in there and prove your worth. Although I didn’t score in the match, I’m very excited that the opportunity I was waiting for came and I did all I could and I’m particularly happy that I was on the pitch when we got that equalizer.
“It was my first NPFL match and I have this confidence that I will have more and more opportunities to play and to score goals for this club”.
