The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, warned on Monday that professional infractions by any police personnel serving in the state would be appropriately sanctioned.

Uzuegbu gave the warning in Enugu in a brief remark after inspecting the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) office of the Police Command in Enugu.

 

He assured members of the public of the Command’s commitment to ensure utmost professionalism.

 

The state’s police boss called on the residents to utilize the contacts and social media platforms provided to report erring police officers.

 

According to him, discipline remains the foundation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

 

“I appreciate the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetukun, for his foresight in giving full effect to the establishment of the CRU.

 

“I laud his unrelenting efforts to reposition the NPF as the foremost and truly professional security agency in Africa.

“I also thank the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Nigeria, for supporting the establishment and equipment of the Enugu State Command’s CRU office.

“The Command is assuring that everything will be done to make the office (unit) work optimally,” he said.

 

He further explained that the unit was saddled with the responsibility of receiving and professionally handling complaints of unprofessional conduct against police officers.

 

“The Command enjoins the public, particularly residents of Enugu State, to promptly report police unprofessional conduct to the unit by calling: 09160002486; 07059160602 and 08176455557.

 

“Residents can send text or WhatsApp messages to 09160002487 and emails to [email protected].

 

“They can connect with the Unit on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) using *@Enugu_PoliceCRU*,” he said.
