Soludo Announces Free Education Policy in Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Soludo, has announced a new education policy that makes education free and compulsory for students in public primary and secondary schools. This announcement was made during a meeting with principals and head teachers in public schools in Awka.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Soludo made this announcement on September 21, 2023, as part of his Solution-Free Education Policy. Under this policy, students of senior secondary in public schools will pay a tuition fee of ₦5,000 only.

Soludo stated that the policy will be implemented from next week, and will increase children’s access to education, ensuring the effective development of their personality, talents, mental and physical abilities.

He also reassured that despite the resource constraints, his administration will continue to work hard to deliver on its mandate. Furthermore, he directed that students in senior classes who have already paid their ₦5,000 tuition fees for this term should be refunded.

Soludo reiterated his administration’s commitment to human capital development, promising to continue making strides in this area. He also announced that the government will commence payment of the ₦70,000 minimum wage in October.

The governor emphasized that the new minimum wage and free education initiative are testaments to his administration’s resolve to invest in the people of Anambra State, improving their standard of living and access to quality education.
