IPOB condemns army’s alleged murder of civilians in Anambra — News — The Guardian Nigeria News

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly condemned the recent actions of the Nigerian Army in Ogbaru, Anambra State, where villagers were allegedly murdered, doused with inflammable substances, and set ablaze.

Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, called the incident “the lowest of the lowest,” accusing the Nigerian Army of becoming “a bunch of terrorists in army uniform.”
IPOB described the military’s actions as “barbaric and inhumane,” likening them to the tactics used by terror groups.
“The Nigerian military invaded some communities in Ogbaru, burned down houses, and murdered and burned the bodies of innocent, peaceful civilians without provocation,” said Powerful. “This is a classic modus operandi of terror groups.”

IPOB is calling for an investigation into the incident and demanding justice for the victims.
“The barbaric murder and burning of the lifeless bodies of innocent Ogbaru people by the Nigerian Army must be investigated, and those responsible brought to justice,” Powerful added.
The group also warned that such actions could lead to a repeat of past conflicts and urged the Nigerian government to hold a peaceful referendum to allow Biafrans to exit Nigeria.
“The earlier the Nigerian government organises a referendum for Biafrans to exit Nigeria in peace, the better, to avoid a repeat of the past,” Powerful stated.
