Arochukwu: A Patriarch's Reflections

George M. Onwuchekwa, a Barrister at Law born in Arochukwu in the early twentieth century, authored Arochukwu: A Patriarch's Reflections to preserve the customs and traditions of his hometown. He based his writings entirely on personal experiences and oral traditions passed down through generations. He referred to his deep educational foundation in these customs, guided by his father, as his training in the "Aroversity."

The compilation brings together several distinct essays and smaller works by Onwuchekwa, covering topics like the origins of Arochukwu and detailed accounts of its local marriage and burial customs. He specifically documents the history of the Okennachi ruling lineage and shares his personal childhood memories of the people and environment. The book provides an intimate, firsthand historical record of Arochukwu society before modern transformations.
